Crowns - If your tooth requires more than a filling, Dr. Hires may suggest a crown to strengthen your tooth. A crown restores the original size, shape and function of your toothby covering the whole tooth with a protective structure.
Reasons to consider a crown:
One of the most popular choices for crowns are the porcelain crowns, which may be shaped and colored to blend with the rest of your teeth, resulting in a naturally beautiful smile. Porcelain crowns, like other dental restorations, are not permanent, and may eventually need tobe replaced. However, they are durable and will last for many years ensuring healthy beautiful teeth.
A crown procedure will be completed in two visits to Hires Dental.
For your first appointment, several detailed molds will be taken of your tooth to ensure that your crown looks as natural as possible. Your molds will be sent to a local dental laboratory where your new custom crown will be custom made to fit your tooth. In the meantime, as your crown is being made, you will wear a temporary crown.
For your second appointment, Dr. Hires will place your new custom made crown. By maintaining good oral hygiene and regular visits to Hires Dental, your crown will be protected for many years.
